Upload and File Format Problems

Upload and File Format Problems

ClipsMate supports a wide range of media formats for uploads. If you encounter issues when uploading files to the Media Library or editor, this guide will help you identify and fix the problem.

Supported File Formats

ClipsMate accepts the following formats:

  • Video — MP4 (H.264), MOV, WebM, AVI. MP4 with H.264 encoding is recommended for best compatibility.
  • Images — PNG, JPG, JPEG, WebP, SVG, GIF. PNG is recommended for graphics with transparency.
  • Audio — MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG. MP3 is recommended for voiceovers; WAV for highest quality music.
  • Fonts — TTF, OTF, WOFF2. WOFF2 is recommended for custom Brand Kit fonts.

File Size Limits

Maximum upload sizes per file type:

  • Video files — 500 MB per file.
  • Image files — 25 MB per file.
  • Audio files — 50 MB per file.
  • Font files — 10 MB per file.

If your file exceeds the limit, compress it before uploading. For video, use a tool like HandBrake to reduce file size without significant quality loss.

Upload Fails Immediately

If the upload fails before the progress bar moves:

  1. Check your internet connection — try loading another webpage.
  2. Verify the file is not corrupted — try opening it in another application.
  3. Clear your browser cache and try again.
  4. Try a different browser (Chrome and Firefox are recommended).
  5. Disable any browser extensions that might block file uploads (ad blockers, privacy extensions).

Upload Stalls at a Percentage

If the upload progress bar stops and does not advance:

  • Large files on slow connections may appear stuck. Wait at least 5 minutes before cancelling.
  • If the upload consistently stalls at the same percentage, the file may be corrupted at that byte position. Re-export or re-download the source file.
  • Switch to a wired internet connection if possible for large file uploads.

File Accepted But Not Displaying

If the upload completes but the file does not appear in the Media Library:

  • Refresh the page — there may be a display delay.
  • Check the file format is genuinely what the extension suggests. Some files have incorrect extensions (e.g., a BMP file renamed to .jpg). Re-export the file in the correct format.
  • For video files, ensure the codec is H.264. Some MP4 files use H.265/HEVC, which may not display correctly. Re-encode with H.264 using HandBrake or FFmpeg.

Recommended Specifications

For the best results in your videos, upload media that meets these specifications:

  • Images — at least 1920×1080 pixels, sRGB color space, under 10 MB.
  • Video clips — 1080p or 4K, H.264 codec, 30fps, under 200 MB.
  • Audio — 44.1kHz or 48kHz sample rate, 128kbps or higher bitrate, CBR encoding.

Following these format and size guidelines will prevent the vast majority of upload issues and ensure your media looks and sounds great in the final rendered video.
