Social Media Publishing Errors
Social Media Publishing Errors
When a video fails to publish to a connected social media account, ClipsMate provides an error message with details. This guide covers the most common publishing errors and how to resolve them.
OAuth Token Expired
This is the most common publishing error. Social platforms revoke access tokens after a set period:
- Instagram — tokens expire after 60 days.
- Facebook — page tokens are long-lived but can expire after 90 days.
- TikTok — tokens expire after 24 hours (ClipsMate auto-refreshes, but failures can occur).
- YouTube — tokens are long-lived but can be revoked if you change your Google password.
- LinkedIn — tokens expire after 60 days.
To fix: go to Settings > Social Accounts, find the account with the warning badge, and click "Reconnect". Re-authorize ClipsMate and retry the publish.
Content Policy Violation
Platforms may reject content that violates their policies. Common triggers include:
- Copyrighted music in the audio track.
- Text overlays with prohibited words or claims.
- Video content flagged by automated moderation.
ClipsMate's built-in music library is fully licensed for commercial use. If you uploaded custom audio, ensure you have the rights to distribute it on the target platform.
File Size Exceeds Platform Limit
Each platform has maximum file size limits:
- Instagram Reels — 4 GB (up to 15 minutes).
- TikTok — 287.6 MB (up to 10 minutes).
- YouTube — 256 GB (up to 12 hours with verification).
- Facebook — 10 GB (up to 240 minutes).
- LinkedIn — 5 GB (up to 10 minutes).
If your video exceeds a platform's limit, render at a lower resolution or trim the video length.
Platform Downtime
Occasionally, social platforms experience downtime or API outages that prevent publishing. Check the platform's status page (e.g., status.instagram.com) and retry after the outage is resolved. ClipsMate does not auto-retry to avoid duplicate posts.
Incorrect Account Permissions
Some platforms require specific account types for API publishing:
- Instagram requires a Business or Creator account (personal accounts cannot publish via API).
- Facebook requires Page admin or editor role for the target page.
- LinkedIn requires admin access for company pages.
Verify your account type and permissions on the platform, then reconnect in ClipsMate.
Retry and Status Tracking
Failed publishes appear in the "Failed" tab under Social Accounts > Publish History. Click any failed item to see the full error details. After resolving the issue, click "Retry" to attempt the publish again without re-rendering the video.
