Using Templates and Compositions

Using Templates and Compositions

ClipsMate's template library contains hundreds of professionally designed video templates organized by category, industry, and platform. Compositions give you more creative control with modular scene building blocks. This guide covers both.

Browsing Templates

Navigate to "Templates" in the sidebar. You can browse by:

  • Category — social media, marketing, education, real estate, e-commerce, and more.
  • Platform — YouTube, Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn.
  • Style — minimal, bold, corporate, cinematic, playful.
  • Duration — 15s, 30s, 60s, or multi-minute.

Hover over any template to see a live preview. Click the heart icon to add it to your favorites for quick access later.

Customizing a Template

Click "Use Template" to open it in the editor. Every element is editable:

  1. Text — click any text layer to change the copy, font, size, color, and animation.
  2. Media — click images or video clips to swap them with your own uploads or stock content.
  3. Colors — adjust scene colors individually or apply your Brand Kit globally with one click.
  4. Music — replace the default track with another from the library or upload your own.
  5. Scenes — add, remove, duplicate, or reorder scenes using the timeline at the bottom.

Working with Compositions

Compositions are modular scene blocks that you can mix and match. To create a video from compositions:

  1. Click "Create Video" and choose "Composition Editor".
  2. Browse the composition library and add scenes to your timeline.
  3. Each composition scene is fully editable — text, media, colors, and animations.
  4. Drag scenes to reorder them. Adjust individual scene durations.
  5. Add transitions between scenes from the transition library.

Rendering Your Video

Once you are happy with your edits, click "Render". Select your output resolution (720p, 1080p, or 4K on supported plans) and format. The cloud rendering engine processes your video and notifies you when it is ready.

Saving Custom Templates

If you have created a layout you want to reuse, click "Save as Template" from the editor menu. Your custom template appears in the "My Templates" tab and can be shared with team members.

Templates are the fastest path to professional video output, while compositions give you maximum creative flexibility. Use both to build a scalable video production workflow.
