AI Script Generation: Tips for Better Results

ClipsMate's AI script generator transforms a simple topic or brief into a complete video script. The quality of the output depends heavily on how you structure your prompt. Follow these guidelines to get scripts that need minimal editing.

Writing Effective Prompts

A good prompt includes three elements:

  1. Topic — clearly state the subject of the video. Be specific rather than broad. Instead of "marketing tips," try "5 Instagram Reels tips for small business owners."
  2. Audience — tell the AI who the video is for. "Beginner photographers," "SaaS founders," or "fitness enthusiasts over 40" all produce very different scripts.
  3. Goal — explain what the video should achieve. Educate, sell, entertain, or inspire. This shapes the call-to-action and overall structure.

Choosing the Right Tone

ClipsMate offers four tone presets:

  • Professional — formal language, data-driven, suitable for B2B, corporate, and educational content.
  • Casual — conversational and friendly, great for social media and lifestyle brands.
  • Energetic — fast-paced, action words, exclamation points — ideal for product launches and promotions.
  • Educational — clear, step-by-step explanations with logical flow, perfect for tutorials and how-to videos.

Select the tone that matches your brand voice and target platform. LinkedIn content typically works best with Professional, while TikTok benefits from Casual or Energetic.

Controlling Length

Specify your target video duration. The AI adjusts the script length accordingly:

  • 30 seconds — approximately 75–90 words.
  • 1 minute — approximately 150–170 words.
  • 2 minutes — approximately 300–340 words.
  • 3 minutes — approximately 450–500 words.

Editing the Generated Script

After generation, review the script in the text editor. Common adjustments include:

  • Replacing generic phrases with your specific brand terminology.
  • Adding concrete numbers, statistics, or examples.
  • Shortening sentences for punchier delivery on short-form platforms.
  • Adding a custom call-to-action that matches your campaign goals.

Regeneration Options

If the first result is not quite right, click "Regenerate" to produce a new version without re-entering your prompt. You can also click "Regenerate Scene" on individual scenes to rewrite just one section while keeping the rest intact.

With practice, you will develop prompt patterns that consistently produce high-quality scripts, making your video creation workflow faster and more predictable.
